We arrive on the edge of the Floating Islands. Standing before us was the most beautiful structure pointing high into the sky - The Sacred Idol. It was backlit by a huge fireball. We stood in disbelief. Cal and I had reached the Pyramid of The Sun! With caution we approach the pyramid. When our eyes adjust, we start to see hieroglyphics -- strange markings in the stone face. Strange indeed. We also see a message scrawled into the pyramid warning us of those seeking the Black Orchid. “Beware the serpent, beware your fate, turn back before it’s too late!” It is signed by Les Baxter. It was getting late so we set camp for the night.
