After breakfast I took out my conk and called out on the ledge of the Floating Islands. We heard a distant reply. It sounded far away like it was coming from the islands of the Quiet Village. We quickly packed up camp and pushed our boat into the sea setting our coordinates. Later that day, we landed on the shores of the Quiet Village. Martin greets us. He says, “I know why you’re here and what you’ve come for. You’re in search of the elusive Black Orchid.” He laughs, and tells us to turn around. He tells us those who have searched for the Black Orchid have gone insane. “Please turn back or you too will face the same fate.” He turns and walks away from us muttering. “Will I see you both again? I will see you again.” A distant conk blows.
