The next day the three of us make conversation over rum drinks. Cal and I ask Gene to join us in finding the Black Orchid. He quickly refuses with a warning – “Those who get caught up in the search for the Black Orchid will get trapped forever on the Floating Islands.” The next morning, we are given a new sailing vessel and pushed out to sea. With a friendly send off from Gene, and his warning, we continued our voyage.
